Plains Trap League

NOTICE!!!!
IF YOU DID NOT COMPETE IN MORE THAN ONE EVENT LAST YEAR, YOU DO NOT HAVE AN AVERAGE OR CLASS FOR THIS YEAR AND WILL HAVE TO START OUT THE SEASON IN B CLASS. (THIS RULE DOES NOT APPLY IF YOU ARE UNDER 18 OR FEMALE.)

As a result of the events of 9/11/2001 and the subsequent Patriot Act legislation involving homeland security, it is increasingly difficult to open a bank account as a ghost entity. Plains Trap League is a ghost entity, and that is probably all it needs to be. As a result of this, it was voted on and decided by members in attendance at end of year meeting that Secretary duties will no longer be passed from one club to the next, each year. Jack Wolfe and Jon De Lorenzo will take care of administrative duties for the league until such time as they resign or you, the members decide to replace them.

We still ask that one member from the host shoot club be made available to assist with scoring and registration.

For a number of years we have kept scores electronically via use of computers. By now you should be familiar and comfortable with this method of scoring. this year we will dispense with the master score sheets that were posted at each event.

All scoring and results postings will be generated from the computer master scoring. It is done at many ATA events and it eliminates the need for duplicating efforts, and saves us some supplies expense.

FOLLOWING ARE RULE CHANGES FOR 2002/2003 YEAR

Dropped is the requirement to use the Tournament score, in figuring averages, until the shooter has completed 3 regular shoots in the following season.

Next year, the Tournament score will be used to figure shooter's class/average for the End of Year (EOY). This EOY average will determine the class the shooter begins next season in. The EOY average will be used with the first shoot score to determine class/average for the next shoot. From that point on, it will not be used again. Only the current year shoots will be used to determine class/average.

To better balance the classes, by shooter ability, the following changes were made to the class breaks. This applies to singles/handicap classes only.

Class Average
A 91.0 and above
B 86.0 - 90.9
C 80.0 - 85.9
D 79.9 or less

The use of the Team singles score to determine team's handicap yardage, has been dropped in favor of a class handicap yardage.   In the interest of safety, a maximum of 2 yards separation will be maintained. This may mean re-squadding some shooters for the handicap portion of the program only.

Class Yard Line
A 23
B 22
C 21
D 20
L 19
J and SJ 18

This would mean A, B, C class could shoot together, and D, L, J,S could shoot together under the 2yd separation rule. If a D, L, J, S shooter wants to shoot handicap with the upper classes they must notify the Scorer and will sacrifice their class handicap yardage by moving back as far as necessary to comply with the maximum 2 yd separation rule. For example:  A Ladies class shooter would move to the 21 yd line to shoot with an A class handicap squad.

A-B-C   B-C-D   C-D-L   D-L-J/S   are class combination's that can shoot together without having to be re-squadded or sacrifice handicap yardage.

The last change involves the funds accumulated by the League Treasurer. It was decided that $1,500.00 will be passed on to the next town, for starting the following season. At the end of each season, after all outstanding debt has been paid, the balance over the 1500 will be passed back to the individual clubs that participated in the season, to be used as they see fit.
